This work was written for the Jacksonville University Wind Ensemble and is the composer’s first band work. The overall form is a five-part rondo (ABACA). The piece conveys the thought of the life of a group of pioneers who are traveling the frontier and settling on the new land, which brings with it both rewards as well as hardships. This recording is from the premiere performance of the work on April 19, 2005 by the Jacksonville University Wind Ensemble conducted by Professor Artie Clifton.
